I designed and built the CNGA website entirely from scratch, starting with research and wireframes in Figma, followed by full UI design and final implementation in WordPress. SEOs google console was also implemented to monitor website performance.

By identifying pain points and opportunities at each stage of the user journey, the design prioritised clarity, trust, and low-friction engagement for those new to the community.

Prioritisation Matrix

Insights from the user journey and user flow highlighted multiple opportunities. A prioritisation matrix was therefore completed with CNGA to identify which design features and decisions are important and feasible for reducing user uncertainty and increase engagement.

Design Feedback

Design Feedback

Conducted an informal usability testing with the community members of CNGA.

Received the following feedback:

  • CNGA’s objectives in the “About CNGA” page is quite verbose. Is there a way to condense it?

  • The Constitution and Operations page need to be password locked.

  • Main focus of the Projects page would be on projects, CNGA’s objectives can be omitted.

  • Remove digital forms, e.g. donation form, as downloadable forms will be used in the meantime.

Implementation

Implementation

I translated the Figma designs into a fully functional WordPress website that is responsive across devices and can be easily altered for future content. This was implemented through the Twenty Twenty-Four theme and WordPress’ block system.

As the website was created through a free plan, WordPress’s block-based layout system limited certain positioning and interaction patterns, requiring some designs to be simplified.

Accessibility Compliance

Accessibility Compliance

I ensured that website colours and font sizes were compliant with the WCAG AA standards. Policies such as the Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and Media Policy were also GDPR-compliant.

Reflection

Reflection

This was my first end-to-end project where I was responsible for both the design and development of the website, which is now live and provides CNGA with a clear digital platform to share information about their work and support the growth of their community.

The development phase involved a learning curve, specifically in familiarising with WordPress and understanding how platform constraints can shape UX decisions. For example, WordPress’s block-based layout system limited positioning and interaction patterns. However, this resulted in a positive UX trade-off: a simpler layout system reducing visual complexity whilst also improving accessibility and long-term maintenance.

Future Plans

Future Plans

Currently analytics and SEO performance are being tracked through Google Console. Tracked user behaviour, conversion rates, and drop-off points will be used to demonstrate how well the website is working, and also to inform CNGA what contents to improve.

Future developments will involve implementations of:

  • Multilingual support.

  • Digital forms, e.g. for membership and donations.

  • A dynamic events system that is easily updatable.

Overall, the focus will be on adding these features and monitoring the website for long-term growth and engagement.
